The Child Exploitation Team, formally known as ERASE, are a dedicated team within Durham Constabulary who focus on preventing child exploitation and missing children. The team work closely with Police and other local partner agencies, to identify and support young people at risk of exploitation, ensuring that they receive the protection and care they need.

The work of the Child Exploitation Team includes, but is not limited to:

• Support and interventions for young people at high risk of child exploitation.
• Coordination and delivery of services for children who are Missing from Home or in care.
• Track regulated and unregulated placements for young people, raising concerns about their living conditions.
• Review all missing from home logs, quickly identifying crucial locations and individuals.
• Development of a multigency team that includes Police Officers, Social Workers, and Youth Workers to act as a source of help and information for children and parents.
• Collaboration with partner agencies to spot signs of abuse and ensure the safety of children.
• Training and support to service providers on recognising signs of exploitation
• Ensure critical links are made between forces to assess risks more effectively.
